Virginia Beach IT Jobs Set to Grow with Expansion of New Company

Two companies are teaming up to take on an enormous project, manufacturing and installing a high-speed data cable that will connect South Africa to the United States. One of those companies, ACA International, plans to relocate its headquarters to Virginia Beach where it will orchestrate the entire project. Construction and installation should take about 18 months and run from Capetown, South Africa across the southern Atlantic Ocean to Virginia Beach.

According to a news report published in Virginia Business, ACA International will purchase a 10-acre site in Corporate Landing Business Park for a 130,000-square-foot facility that will serve as the company’s new corporate headquarters offices, a tier III data center providing neutral co-location services, and cable landing station. "This is the third high-speed cable agreement to be finalized in Virginia Beach," says Virginia Beach Economic Development Director Warren D. Harris. "This new connection from South Africa is a significant addition to our global connectivity infrastructure and strengthens the city's position as a Tier One digital community."

According to another news report in The Virginian-Pilot, the project could bring approximately 200 jobs to the region. ACA International CEO Joel Ogren says the company will be hiring for a wide range of positions, including software engineers, data analysts, and cyber security professionals.
