Unanet Expanding in Northern Virginia
Web Software Company Expects to Add 100 Employees over Five Years, Earn a Bachelor’s Degree from ECPI University in Half That Time
Unanet has announced major plans for expansion, moving from its current location to a new 24,000-square-foot facility in the Loudoun Gateway Office Park in Sterling, Virginia. A news report from Virginia Business states the web software company will invest $7.3 million dollars and create 100 new jobs, including many in the software development field, over the next five years.
Founded in 1988, the company currently serves more than 1,000 clients nationwide, including government contractors in Northern Virginia and throughout the Washington DC metro area. “We’re proud of our Loudoun roots, and are excited to continue our strong relationship with the county,” said CEO Fran Craig in a statement published in Virginia Business.
Unanet is just one of the many companies that are part of a growing employment sector. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) indicates employment of software developers is projected to grow 17 percent from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations. Employment of applications developers is projected to grow 19 percent, and employment of systems developers is projected to grow 13 percent.
Moreover, software developers make a good living. BLS research shows that the median annual wage for software developers was $98,260 in May 2015.
Unanet plans to hire 100 new employees in the next five years. If you think you might want to enter this growing field, you could earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer and Information Science with a Concentration in Software Development in half that time, just 2.5 years through ECPI University’s year-round, accelerated program.
