New Manufacturing Jobs Coming to Raleigh Area
ECPI University has EET and Mechatronics Graduates to fill Positions
An Italian company that makes insulation has announced plans to expand and add 100 new jobs to its Franklin County, North Carolina facility. In a report in the News & Observer, it was announced that K-Flex will invest $45 million to double the size of its Youngsville manufacturing plant, opening up positions for individuals trained in advanced manufacturing skills.
Representatives for the company say that it will be hiring supervisors, skilled operators, and maintenance technicians, among other positions, at an average annual salary of $49,100. The average annual wage in Franklin County is $39,067. K-Flex is currently the fourth-largest employer in Franklin County and will become the third largest after its expansion, said Richie Duncan, director of Franklin County Economic Development Commission.
Many of the jobs being offered will require applicants with skills in such areas as electronics, mechanical engineering technology, and computer and information science. Does that surprise you? Maybe you think manufacturing is a dirty, low-paying job? Maybe you did not realize that manufacturing jobs are even available anymore? The truth is, American manufacturing has been on the rebound and it’s an employment sector that is growing by the year.
Today’s manufacturing jobs are different from the old days. Just a couple decades ago, manufacturing jobs were labor intensive and, quite frankly, not all that interesting. That has change dramatically. Robotics and advanced automation have been game changers. This technology is allowing companies to produce mass quantities of goods with fewer workers.
So, you’re saying to yourself, “fewer workers? How can that be good?” These are all new jobs coming back to America and they require high degrees of skill.
Do we have your interest? If so, consider exploring the programs available at ECPI University and its Raleigh campus. It offers two programs that are well-suited for people who want to pursue a career in advanced manufacturing.
The Electronics Engineering Technology (EET) program is designed to help you learn how to:
- Identify, analyze, and solve technical problems
- Use testing and measuring instruments to acquire data, analyze problems, and design a system or process
- Analyze and implement systems containing hardware and software components
- Demonstrate an ability to manage engineering technology projects
The Mechatronics program is designed to provide a broader education that covers the primary elements of advanced manufacturing – electronics, computer and information systems, and mechanical engineering technology. In addition to EET classes, you will also be introduced to such things as:
- Applied mechanics
- Hydraulics and pneumatics
- Materials science
What’s more, our accelerated, year-round program allows you to earn your degree much faster than traditional schools. In fact, you can earn your Bachelor of Science degree in just 2.5 years or an Associate of Science degree in just 1.5 years. If you're interested in the field of advanced manufacturing, why waste any more time? Contact a helpful admissions advisor and learn how you can get stared today.
