Hearthstone Match Lost to Rochester in Epic Battle, ECPI University Rams Prepare for their Next Game
The ECPI University Rams were swept by Rochester, 3-0, in its second Hearthstone match of the season, making the Rams' record 1-1.
Rochester took Game 1 with a Combo Priest deck and a solid starting hand. Nathan "Glamdring" Seib ran a Quest Hunter deck and was on the back foot from the start. Rochester was able to play two copies of Northshire Cleric by Turn 2. The Cleric's ability allows the player to draw cards on heals, allowing the Priest's hand to get strong fast and provide the lethal blow by Turn 6.
In Game 2, D'metre "SenorPoppy" Pina played a Control Warrior deck into Rochester's Secret Hunter deck. The Rams' deck is intended to be a slow roll deck, better in the late game once the player has 10 mana crystals. However, Rochester forced SenorPoppy to play defense early and never let up. Thanks to Zephrys the Great, Rochester was able to play Avenging Wrath, dealing eight damage and finishing off SenorPoppy to go up 2-0 in the series.
Weldon "PriestW20" Hobbs ran a Quest Shaman deck for the Rams in Game 3 against Rochester's Holy Wrath Paladin deck and was defeated. PriestW20 played very aggressive out of the gate, comboing lackeys and battlecries in order to complete his quest.
However, Rochester's deck had a strong late game with Holy Wrath. In two turns, thanks to Holy Wrath and Shirvallah, the Tiger, Rochester sealed the victory. Holy Wrath deals damage to the opponent based on the cost of the player's next drawn card. Rochester was able to draw Shirvallah, the Tiger twice, a card that costs 25 mana. It allowed Rochester to do 50 damage in two turns, ending the series and winning 3-0.
The ECPI University Rams next Hearthstone match is Tuesday, October 1 at 8 PM EST. The next Rams Esports match is a NACE Rocket League Championship match on Thursday, September 26.
