Healthcare Administration Degree Offers Opportunities in the Medical Field
Earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Healthcare Administration in Just 19 Months through ECPI University’s New Hybrid Program
If you’re looking for a career that’s in demand, it’s hard to top healthcare. While most people associate doctors and nurses with this profession, they sometimes overlook the people who work behind the scenes. Namely, healthcare administrators. Without them, this massive segment of the U.S. economy would come to a screeching halt.
As big as it is, the U.S. healthcare industry is about to get much larger. Why? Baby Boomers. They’re getting older and starting to retire. With advances in medical care, they’re going to live longer than previous generations and that means greater demand for healthcare services.
According to Becker’s Hospital Review:
- National healthcare expenditures rose 5.3 percent in 2014 to more than $3 trillion
- An estimated 20 million people gained health insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act between the passage of the health reform law in 2010 and early 2016
- Annual spending on prescription drugs in the U.S. is estimated to rise 22 percent over the next several years, reaching $400 billion in 2020
On top of that, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is projecting employment of healthcare occupations to grow 18 percent from 2016 to 2026, much faster than the average for all occupations. Because this growth has to be managed, it should be no surprise that healthcare administration is growing at an even greater pace. According to the BLS, employment of medical and health services managers is projected to grow 20 percent during the same time period. What’s more, these are well-paying jobs. BLS data shows that the median annual wage for medical and health services managers was $96,540 as recently as May 2016.
So, it’s pretty obvious that healthcare administration pays well and is poised for growth. Now, what would think if you learned that you could prepare for a career in healthcare administration in just 19 months? Well, that’s exactly what you can do if you enroll in ECPI University’s new Hybrid Healthcare Administration program.
