Ferguson Enterprises is preparing for a major expansion. The Virginia-based company has announced plans to open a new complex at City Center in Newport News, creating 434 new administrative and IT positions.
An $82.8 million dollar project, Ferguson has released plans to begin construction with a six-story, 260,000-square-foot building along the fountain, next to the Marriott Hotel. Construction is expected to begin in 2018 and end in 2019, said Frank Roach, Ferguson's CEO in a news report published by the Daily Press.
Ferguson’s IT department is quite large and its responsibilities are considerable. The largest wholesale distributor of residential and commercial plumbing supplies in the nation, the company is also a major distributor of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, fire protection systems, waterworks, and industrial products and services. A nearly $14 billion company, it has more than 1,400 locations and over 23,000 employees nationwide. In Virginia alone, it employs nearly 3,000 people, according to Secretary of Commerce and Trade Todd Haymore, who was cited in a news report in Virginia Business.
