The United States Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has just released its most recent list of America’s fastest growing jobs. Of the 30 professions it has identified, nearly a third of them are aligned with programs offered at ECPI University. If you’re not sure that you are up for four years of college, we have good news. According to the BLS, while overall employment is expected to grow by 7.4 percent between 2016 and 2026, growth in these select occupations will account for 19 percent of all new jobs. So, let’s take a look at what the BLS has to say about some of these growing professions.
- Information Security Analyst – Projected growth of 28 percent and an average median wage of $92,600, with the highest 10 percent earning more than $147,290 per year.
- Software Developer – Projected growth of 24 percent and an average median wage of $102,280, with the highest 10 percent earning more than $157,590 per year.
- Wind Turbine Service Technician – Projected growth of 96 percent and an average median wage of $52, 260, with the highest 10 percent earning more than $76,250 per year.
- Diagnostic Medical Sonographer – Projected growth of 17 percent and an average media wage of $69,450, with the highest 10 percent earning more than $99,100 per year.
- Nursing Instructors and Teachers – Projected growth of 15 percent and an average median wage of $75,430, with the highest 10 percent earning more than $168,270 per year.
- Physical Therapist Assistant – Projected growth of 31 percent and an average media wage of $56,610, with the highest 10 percent earning more than $79,040 per year.
- Massage Therapist – Projected growth of 24 percent and an average median wage of $39,860, with the highest 10 percent earning more than $74,870 per year.
- Medical Assistant – Projected growth of 29 percent and an average median wage of $31,540, with the highest 10 percent earning more than $45,310 per year. As a footnote, many health professionals begin their careers as medial assistants and then move up to medical administration.
