Corning Fiber Optic Cable Plant to be Built in Hickory, NC

Corning, Inc. has announced it will become the first tenant in the new Trivium Corporate Center in southeastern Hickory, North Carolina, building a new $60 million manufacturing facility that will employ 110 people. In a news report published by the Charlotte Business Journal, Corning Vice President and General Manager Bernhard Deutsch says the company needs the additional optical fiber and cable to meet the demands of a more connected world. “Corning is investing in tomorrow's growth today, as the growing number of connected devices fuels demand for our optical fiber and cable innovations,” Deutsch says.

According to officials with the Catawba County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC):

Trivium Corporate Center is being developed to attract clean, high-tech manufacturers. CCEDC Chair Robin Nicholson says this is an important first step in identifying the center’s first tenant. "Trivium is getting off to an excellent start, with Corning adding high-quality, advanced manufacturing jobs," she says. "This sets a tone for future growth in this economic asset for our region."
