Alevo Energy Announces Expansion in Concord, NC
ECPI University’s EET Programs Aligned with New Jobs
Energy storage company Alevo has announced plans for a major expansion of its Concord, North Carolina manufacturing plant, bringing its total investment to $251 million. According to a report in the Charlotte Observer, the expansion will create new production lines and 200 new jobs over the next five years. The company plans to hire in areas such as logistics, maintenance, manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain.
Located at the former Philip Morris cigarette factory, Alevo first opened its doors in 2014. “The City Council and I maintain confidence in Alevo’s plans to reclaim Concord’s largest manufacturing site and transform it to a hub of clean energy technology,” said Concord Mayor Scott Padgett in the Charlotte Observer report. “Alevo is truly a multinational corporation and we are excited for their expansion in Concord as they market their products and services to the world.”
Based in Switzerland, Alevo’s storage systems use large battery arrays to reduce energy waste, lower greenhouse gases and other emissions, create efficiencies, and lower costs. “It’s exciting that a global company like Alevo chooses to manufacture its cutting-edge energy storage products right here in North Carolina, in the heart of one of our state’s strongest manufacturing regions,” said Gov. Roy Cooper. “We need to continue to recruit and train for 21st century jobs like these.”
If you’d like to compete for these kind of jobs, consider some of the programs offered at ECPI University and its Charlotte campus. Two programs in particular – Electronics Engineering Technology and Mechatronics – are designed to prepare you to work in today’s advanced manufacturing environment.
Our Electronics Engineering Technology (EET) program can provide you with the knowledge and understanding required for a career in a wide array of manufacturing facilities. Coursework covers such areas as:
- Analog and Digital Electronics and Communications
- Data Acquisition and Control Systems
- Circuits and Semiconductors
- Computer Hardware and Software
- Microcontrollers
- Network routing and switching
- Logic and design
Like many employers, manufacturers require people who are experts in one particular area – like electronics – and others who are generalists to oversee all facets of production. For those interested in pursuing this path, we offer the Mechatronics program. In addition to covering material related to ETT, you can also learn about:
- Applied Mechanics
- Hydraulics and Pneumatics
- Testing and Measuring Instruments
- Computer Programming and Networks
- Materials Science
If you think this a career you might want to pursue, take a moment and connect with ECPI University and its Charlotte, North Carolina campus. Whether you prefer to talk, email, or chat, a helpful admissions advisor will be happy to help you explore all your options.
