Meet Brandon Shadeed, a recent graduate of the ECPI Orlando Campus, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing in January 2023. Brandon's journey to becoming a nurse started when he was a kid with bad asthma. He knew he wanted to become a medical professional who could make his patients feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. Brandon's mother, who worked her way up from a CNA to a nurse practitioner, also inspired him to pursue a career in nursing.

Before enrolling in ECPI, Brandon earned a Bachelor of Health Administration degree. However, it wasn't until he started working as a patient care technician during the COVID-19 pandemic that he realized patient care and the hands-on aspect of nursing were his calling.

When it came time to choose a nursing school, Brandon was looking for a program that would allow him to quickly receive his Bachelor of Science in Nursing and he found ECPI.

"When I ran across ECPI I was excited to learn about the smaller class sizes, and the small clinical groups are one of the aspects that stood out to me. My experience at ECPI felt much more personalized. The faculty are very helpful and are always there to assist us to become the best nurse possible."

Now, as a bachelor-prepared Registered Nurse at AdventHealth, Brandon's favorite part of his job is providing quality care and making a difference in people's lives. His advice to current ECPI students in the nursing program is to stay open-minded and persevere through the challenges of nursing school. "Regardless of how stressful and busy nursing school gets, make sure to schedule time for yourself and to care for yourself. If this is something you want, then you can definitely do it! Don't give up!"

Happy Nurses Week, Brandon! Congratulations on your success!
