About the Area

Charleston is one of South Carolina's most dynamic regions, known for its historic character, coastal setting, and Lowcountry culture. The area pairs a well-preserved downtown with a widening ring of suburban communities to the north and west.

Its economy has broadened well beyond tourism in recent years. Healthcare, information technology, and advanced manufacturing now hold a strong presence across the Lowcountry, alongside longstanding aerospace and port activity.

That range of industries has created steady demand for skilled professionals throughout the region.

About the Campus

The Charleston campus opened in 2003 and has spent more than two decades supporting the workforce across the Lowcountry. Over that time, we have built strong partnerships with regional healthcare systems, manufacturers, school districts, and local employers.

Our campus is located in North Charleston, just off I-26 and I-526 and close to Charleston International Airport. That location puts it in easy reach for students commuting from Charleston, Summerville, Goose Creek, Mount Pleasant, Johns Island, James Island, and other communities throughout the area.

Programs Available in Charleston, SC

Hands-on Degree Programs

Healthcare anchors much of what happens at the Charleston campus. Our Practical Nursing (PN), Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs prepare students for roles across the Lowcountry's hospitals, clinics, and care facilities, while our Medical Assisting program offers another route into hands-on patient care.

For students drawn to technology, our Cybersecurity, Software Development, and Mechatronics programs build skills in areas like network security, programming, automation, and systems technology.

Across both fields, students develop capability in spaces set up to reflect the workplace, including:

  • Nursing Simulation Center – High-fidelity patient simulators and hospital-style settings for practicing clinical skills and decision-making.
  • Medical Assisting Labs – Clinical stations equipped for the tasks found in physician offices and outpatient settings.
  • Computer and Networking Labs – Current hardware and software supporting networking, cybersecurity, and software development coursework.

Campus Life

The Charleston campus pairs a student-centered environment with resources and activities that support students inside and outside their programs.

  • Support for Student Veterans – The Student Veterans of America (SVA) fosters a strong sense of community and provides resources for military-affiliated students, helping them transition to academic and professional life.
  • Honors Societies – The Golden Key International Honour Society and Phi Theta Kappa (Beta Omicron Epsilon chapter) recognize academic achievement and offer access to networking and leadership opportunities.
  • Career and Networking Events – Employer recruitment events, healthcare career fairs, and workforce activities connect students with opportunities across the Lowcountry.
  • eSports Team – Students can try out for the Rams, ECPI University's collegiate gaming team, to represent the university and compete in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).
